Brice Maiurro Founder and Managing Editor of Punch Drunk Press LLC, a Denver-based publisher of poetry books. Brice, through Punch Drunk Press, also runs an Online Literary Journal, which has hosted poets from six of the seven continents on Planet Earth. (If anyone knows a poet in Antarctica, please don’t hesitate to reach out.) Brice Maiurro believes the world is a large place and focuses most of his efforts on local community building, knowing that to affect what is directly around you is to affect the world at large. Brice hosts and co-organizes the month poetry showcase Punketry! where featured poets perform poetry over the music of Denver psych-punk band, Black Market Translation. Other than Punketry!, Brice has hosted a plethora of other local events, including Punchapalooza, Punch Drunk Poetry, Punch Drunk Showcase, Beet Poetry and an evening of tarot reading hosted out of The Corner Beet in Cap Hill.
Brice has performed at the Howl Birthday Party for Allen Ginsberg, hosted out of the Fox Theater, as well as at the 30th Annual Poetry Rodeo, F-Bomb Flash Fiction Series, Jazzetry, Heard at Hub and more. Two of his favorite opportunities were taking Punketry! on the road to perform at Revolution Records in Kansas City, Missouri and spending an afternoon teaching elementary school students about poetry at the Jarrow Montessori, Boulder’s first Montessori school.
Punch Drunk Press is actively looking for submissions for their website, and the 2018 Punch Drunk Poetry Anthology, featuring several dozen local poets, will be available in late June of this year.
