Ira G. Liss rediscovered his love for performing in a theater improv class more than 30 years ago in NYC, the place of his birth and growing up. His ongoing, multi-decade journey of creative self-expression led to his performing original standup comedy, theater improv, murder mystery dinner theater, sketch comedy, spoken word, solo theater, musical comedy, songwriting, cabaret, one-person shows, ensemble theater, improv piano and vocals, improvised solo video, and Playback Theatre (a form of interactive theater where audience members tell their stories and see them acted out instantly).

Now, he regularly hosts and produces his own music, variety, talk show series, The Ira Liss Show, which features performances by, and interviews with, two new guest artists each month. Follow on Twitter: @theIraLissShow and/or Facebook.

He views our creative self-expression as a necessity – a vital, health & life-giving essence of being human. Through thoughtful self-observation, and a lifelong process of creative discovery, Ira has experienced – and teaches –  writing, journaling, and performing arts that may bring us healing, greater self-awareness, and connection with others.

Ira can be seen most Tuesday evenings performing brief new pieces (usually interactive, improvised, and audience-involving!) at the open mic of Boulder’s Innisfree Cafè and Poetry Bookstore.

See various brief examples of Ira’s original writing, music, song, improvisation,  and performing arts on his YouTube channel, TheIraLissShow, including:

– Spoken word improvisation, Innisfree Cafè: Send Me a Text
– Song performance: Hey, Human
– Storytelling accompanied by piano, Denver’s Mercury Café, New Year’s Eve 2016: Taste Your Lips
– Improvised commentary: Brillo
